Red Grandis™ (Eucalyptus Grandis). It is 100% FSC certified, and a versatile, strong and beautiful lumber considered one of the first substitutes for hardwood lumber. It is an excellent lumber for furniture, house interiors, flooring, framing and decorative products.
Red Grandis™ timber can be used in many applications as the result of an intensive silvicultural management, consisting on thinnings and prunings throughout the tree’s life. URUFOR is committed to grow, manufacture, and market high quality Eucalyptus Grandis timber products URUFOR is a vertically integrated company committed to grow, harvest, produce and export high quality Red Grandis™ (Eucalyptus Grandis) lumber. The company owns over 85,000 acres of net plantation forest in the north of Uruguay, all 100% FSC Eucalyptus Grandis. The harvest is performed within a 20 years growing cycle, and it is carried out year round. The logs are processed at the new sawmill 70 million BF output capacity, 47 kilns with a 4.2 million BF drying capacity, and a remanufacturing plant (glued and laminated products). Red Grandis™ , was the award winner of the Sequoia New Product Award at the last AWFS convention in Las Vegas, for product innovation, and leadership in the woodworking industry in the category of Green/Environmental Leadership in raw Materials.
General Description
The heartwood can vary in color from pale pink to medium pink. The sapwood, which is not always clearly differentiated from the heartwood, is typically paler. It has a uniform but moderately coarse-textured grain, which is usually straight or slightly interlocked. Red Grandis™ is a top quality solid wood product ideally suited for high end applications in furniture, cabinets, moldings, doors and windows, etc. Red Grandis™ offers an ecological alternative to many tropical hardwoods. Versatile and strong, this beautiful hardwood is 100% pure FSC®-certified.
Red Grandis™ (Eucalyptus Grandis) is used for building quality furniture, joinery, turnery, carving, mouldings, doors, windows, kitchen cabinets, flooring, etc. It is available from Lewis Lumber Products in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4 Select & Better. (NHLA Grading Rules)
Properties
Red Grandis™ [/fusion_popover] is of moderate hardness. It machines and turns well to a good smooth finish, and it takes fixings with no difficulty. It glues satisfactorily, and readily accepts paint, stain and polish.

Durability
Red Grandis™ is Durability Class 3 – moderately durable (e.g. windows and doors up to 30 years without treatment – test performed by TRADA Institute UK – October 2009). The heartwood is resistant to decay when exposed to the weather above ground.
